TradeJourney is a lightweight, password-protected trading journal implemented as a PHP web app. It stores trades in a CSV file and presents the data in a clean and structured interface.

Default Login Credentials

Username: admin
Password: TradeJourney!2025

Please change the login credentials after the first login in journey_config.php.

Features

Input: quick manual entry of open and close time, symbol, direction, entry, exit, stop loss, take profit, setup, comment, volume and profit/loss.
Clicking an existing trade opens an editor where the trade can be modified and saved.
Statistics: equity curve, number of trades, wins and losses, hit rate, gross profit and loss, profit factor, net PnL and average result per trade.
Wins and losses by symbol.
Long versus short trade analysis.

Security

Login and logout using PHP sessions.
Credentials are stored in a separate PHP configuration file.
Passwords can be stored securely using a BCrypt hash generated with password_hash().

Files

trade_journal.php journey_config.php tradejourney.csv

trade_journal.php contains the application, interface and CSV logic.

journey_config.php contains the configuration for the username, password and CSV file.

tradejourney.csv stores the recorded trades.

Installation

Requirements

Web server with PHP 7.4 or newer, PHP 8.x recommended
Apache or Nginx
Write permissions for the directory containing the CSV file

Deploy the Files

trade_journal.php journey_config.php tradejourney.csv

The CSV file is optional. If it does not exist, it can be created on the first run.

First Run

Open TradeJourney in your browser.
Log in using the credentials configured in journey_config.php.
Check the CSV file and storage path.
Record your first trade using the Input section.
Review the statistics and equity curve.
Log out when you have finished.

Operations & Maintenance

Back up the CSV file regularly.
Include the configuration file in your backups.
The application file can be replaced during updates while the configuration and CSV data remain unchanged.
Use HTTPS and preferably store only password hashes.

Planned Features

CSV import for existing trading journals.
Automatic trade import from MetaTrader 4 and 5.
Transfer closed trades via WebRequest to a small PHP API.
